Adoption Fees

Why Do Rescues Have Adoption Fees?

Like most small rescue groups Amazing Dogs does not receive any federal or state aid. Our only source of income are the adoption fees that we charge.

These funds are desperately needed to cover the costs of the 200+ dogs that are in our care. The diagram below will give you some idea of what we spend on a healthy dog prior to adoption. But, most of the dogs that we rescue have been abandoned and left without proper care and need additional medical support to help them recover.  These costs can run into the thousands.

Adoption Fees:

Our adoption fee is $500 for doggies over a year old and $600 for puppies a year old or younger regardless of the breed, size or gender.

All funds go towards the care of the 250+ dogs in our shelter.

Fees for dogs with special needs will be determined based upon circumstances and may result in a fee reduction.

Adoption Inclusions:

Along with daily care costs, the adoption fees help Amazing Dogs cover vaccination and medical prep costs for the dogs.

We do everything to ensure the health of our dogs before they are placed up for adoption, which includes:

  • Vaccination against Parvovirus, Distemper, Adenovirus and Parainfluenza
  • Vaccination against Bordetella
  • Vaccination against Rabies (dogs 5+ months)
  • All dogs, except puppies born in our facility, are tested for any tick-borne diseases including heartworm (using the IDEXX 4DX test), and receive treatment as needed
  • Recent full panel blood test (value $150+) for all dogs over 6 months old
  • Microchip
  • Deworming (roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms)
  • Treatment against fleas and ticks
  • We even cut their nails for you...

All adult dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, unless our veterinarian advises against this for medical reasons.

When puppies change environment, the stress caused by this might cause some diarrhea or other issues. Upon adoption, we will give you the medication to deal with this as well.
